Tekulve

Tekulve front cover_2400x2400Ocala, FL-Tekulve was born in 1979 in Sodas, New York and raised in Citra, Florida. Both of his parents are Evangelists so he spent most of his childhood in church (New Life Center C.O.G.I.C). Tekulve grew up in a Pentecostal church and at a young age felt that God had called him to do music. However, once he hit adolescence Tekulve strayed away from Christian music and in 1999 formed a rap group called “Murdah One”. A rap group that promoted sex, drugs and violence, everything that his parents and his faith was against.  In 2004, Tekulve recorded his first positive song titled, “Mamma Um Trying,” since forming the group “Murdah One.” After recording this single Tekulve continued to solicit positive rap music such as a then radio hit “God Smiles” in his community in Ocala, Florida and other surrounding areas in Central Florida. “The song “God Smiles” was a spiritual statement that represented Gods change in my life and my new relationship with Him.”  Between 2004 and 2008, Tekulve recorded and released several mix tapes; “Get Right or Get Left,” “Real Life Gospel Music,” and “Reborn”, leading up to his first independent album “Return to His Arms,”. Tekulve followed up with three more independent albums “Da Breakthrough” in 2010, “Da Antidote” in 2011 and “Who Left The Door Open” in 2013.  In 2010 Tekulve joined NOW Church under the leadership of Pastors Richard and Gail Perinchief. Tekulve has served in several ministries at church such as parking lot, greeting, music and is currently a youth leader in the Now Youth Ministry.

In 2013 Tekulve re-launched his recording label Empowered Records LLC where he is an Artist/C.E.O/CO-OWNER. Empowered Records is an independent gospel recording label and ministry that spreads the word of God, through music and other areas of ministry which include outreach, juvenile prison ministry and motivational speaking.  Tekulve has worked with many artists during the course of his music career such as Canton Jones, Thrill Da Playa, T-Haddy, D MUAB, Da Streetsweepaz and many more; and has performed at events with artists such as: Ernest Pugh, Hezekiah Walker, Tye Tribbet, Pastor Shirley Caesar, Pastors Todd and Beverley Crawford, Canton Jones, Da T.R.U.T.H, Montel Jordan, Danita Hadden, Jin, Phillip Carter, Thi’sl, Christian Grey, Dr. Bobby Jones, Dr. Brenda and Pastor Willie Chambliss at Body Builders TV and many more.  Through years of faithfulness and being humble to God,  Tekulve and the Empowered Records family signed a national digital distribution deal with Infinity Music Distribution / Central South Distribution October 2013. Tekulve’s new  album “Inside/Outside” will be coming in 2014 and the first single “Full Speed” featuring T. Haddy, is out now on all digital retial outlets.

“Speaking from experience I understand the influence music has on the youth and how it affects the community.  Due to my love and passion for spreading the word of God through music, I am aware of the tremendous impact that music has. Music can be used as a tool for construction or as a weapon for destruction; it’s all about the message.” –Tekulve
