DoveAwards2011GMA Dove Week: Atlanta, GA April 16-20th was a packed week with all kinds of surprises and it all started Saturday in the afternoon going to ATL with my man Prodigal Son(Holy-Wood Records) we headed over to the Central South/Infinity Music Distribution Seminar with a room full of artists/labels being taught by industry professionals the new trends in the industry.  Later that night Grammy Award winning producer Kevin Deane and I headed out to the Gospel Explosion ATL 2011 showcase by 3HP Promotions hosted by Troy Edwards.  This was an event that had performers like Daddy-O(Stetsasonic), Bushwick Bill(Geto Boys), Michelle Bonilla, Samantha Cardwell, plus we got to hang out and with BB Jay, Lee Jerkins, Big Prophet, DJ Noble, Primisis, Porschia, and many more!  Sunday was again great fellowship which began at Rusans(that’s God’s gift to us in the form of sushi) I’m telling you it’s manna from Heaven no joke!  Later that evening was the Holy Hip Hop Awards at the 595 North Club downtown Atlanta hosted by Christopher “Play” Martin and Pastor Eddie Velez where many amazing artists like K-Drama, K-Praize, Big Al Cherry, and a host of others!  Yours truly, J-Hollis(Life-Line Worldwide)was given the Ambassador Award for my many years of service in Christian Hip Hop and ministry serving others it was a blessing for me to look out in the room to see many artists that not only I’ve worked with in the past or currently work with but, to get a chance to speak into the entire room of upcoming new artists.  Afterwards, headed out to the Marrietta Cafe with R-Swift, Flame, Kevin Deane, Rick Greene(Infinity), DeShaun Jones(Extol Music), and many others to get some down home southern cooking and fellowship which of course turned into yet another late night.  Monday was a chill day of rest getting prepared physically, mentally, and spiritually for the event that would follow that evening.  It was now 5pm and we headed over to Spring4th Center for Hype Radio Fest 2; the HRF2 Staff: Chris Chicago(host), Chris Laney, Jamie Moeller, and myself set up and sound-checked a bit.  Tre9 of Da South.com was getting set up for the live internet feed and then out of nowhere it was almost time to start.  The Hype Radio Fest 2 was an absolutely amazing event!  We had appearances from radio stations, magazines, television programs, Rapzilla.com, DaSouth.com, Sho Baraka, and Lecrae! There were hot new artist performances like T-Ran, J.Fraze, Goldielox, Geeda, CJ Emulous, Prodigal Son, to incredible performances from Pro, KB, J’Son, K-Drama, D-Maub, S.O.G. Crew, seasoned veterans rocked the stage like Mr. Del, Canton Jones, Tedashii, Sean Slaughter, Flame, and ending the show with Christian Hip Hop legends, Gospel Gangstaz! Truly it was a night to be remembered by the over 450+ fans in attendance throughout the evening!  Tuesday was met with a special lunch at Gladys Knight & Ron Winans Chicken & Waffles with Sean Slaughter, Pros, Rawsrvnt, Lil Prophet, KAS, Boy Wonda, Pastor Kelsie, and more!  It was a treat like no other smothered or fried chicken, fried okra, “real” mac & cheese, strawberry waffles, and the killer sweet potato cheesecake…mmmm good.  After lunch it was off to the tail end of the Reach Records Party over at Engine 11 resturant where they had an unbelievable ice sculpture of the 116 & Reach logos, DJ P Dogg was spinning on the one’s and two’s and the Reach staff was on hand for fellowship along with artists and media.  Tuesday night was another great event put on by Carlos Hale and Urban Soul Cafe with several performers like Wess Morgan, Gideonz Army, Messanjah, Milliyon, Ramona Estelle, and ending with a one-two knockout punch by Canton Jones it was an event that went on way into the late night hours but, it was worth it because again God was praised, the worship was sweet,  along with the fellowship that followed.  Wednesday started with a celebration of the life of DJ Lace at the Homecoming outside of Atlanta.  It was how Lace would have wanted it DJ’s spinning, Lisa McClendon and Canton Jones singing, words of inspiration from the Stroman family, Dr. D, and Pastor Doug Gunby.  Of course afterwards laughing, crying, and fellowship overtook the room and I know that is how we were all intended to leave this place in an atmosphere of celebration of  DJ Lace‘s life worshiping God.  Next, early in the afternoon I went over to the City Takers Conference hosted by Scott Free with speakers Tre9 and Tommy Kyllonen(Urban D).  The event was well attended and some great information was had by all.  Later in the afternoon CJ Emulous and I took off to Canton Jones home to have some fellowship time watching basketball, eating some pizza and watching Canton taping an interview by UK television program, “One To One” after hanging a good while I headed back to Nashville through the storms so that I could catch my breath from a week of hanging in the ATL praise God for an awesome week of unity in the body of Christ!
